L’escale used to be an hotel and restaurant for many years. Then it became the house I grew up into and that my parents runned as a bed&breakfast for the past 20 years. It’s a real gem right in the heart of the village of Guéthary. 

 

After travelling and living around the world for the past 8 years, I came to realize that home was actually one of the best place to be. And so, the idea of creating an hostel in l’Escale became a project. I feel lucky to be able to meet people from around the world with so many stories and help them discover and enjoy my home.

 

With l'Escale, we wanted to offer an affordable accommodation in Guéthary so that young people and solo travelers can also have the chance to experience the beauty of the bask coast.

As travelers, we know that the people you share your time with is what you will remember from your trip (as the saying says, «a place is only as good as the people in it » or « it’s the people who make it what it is ». For that, our house and offer is thought to encourage meetings and shared moments. We will also give our best to warmly welcome you and help you enjoy your time here.

 

The house is situated right in the center of Guéthary. Living the village life with the little market, terraces to have a coffee or a drink, walk to the beaches, watch the sunset over the ocean, and most of all enjoying the summer here is an experience you will remember.

Over the past years, Guéthary has become famous amongst surfers. In fact, surf is a big part of our lives here. If you are a confirmed surfer, you will find great spots all around; if you are a beginner, you will find easier waves near by; and if you don’t want to surf, for sure you will enjoy watching people riding waves !

 

Here, we give our best to create for you a home away from home. We hope it will be the space where you will meet new and old friends, and the place you want to come back to.
